The oil filter in your engine system filters the impurities and keeps the engine oil clean.

WHAT PURPOSE DOES THIS SERVE, YOU MIGHT ASK?

The engine oil is an important component that keeps your automobile moving. However, it gradually becomes tainted as metal particles and carbon contents are mixed. Such impurities occur due to the repeated cycles of intake, compression, combustion and exhaust created by the engine parts to keep the automobile moving.

With such repeated movement, friction occurs. Engine oil serves as lubricant to prevent the metal­particle/carbon contamination caused by frictions and combustion and cleans up the inside of the engine, keeping the movement smooth.

WHAT IS THE REPLACEMENT TIME FRAME?

We do not recommend a specific replacement interval as the right replacement interval may vary depending on the models. Refer to the instruction manual and maintenance records of the vehicle for details.

WHY IT IS SO IMPORTANT TO REPLACE IT?

Like filters of water purifier, oil filter element (filter media) gets contaminated over time and clogging occurs if the element is not replaced at the proper interval. Continuous use of clogged element will activate the relief valve. This means engine oil laced with metal particles and carbon contents will circulate across the engine. This will not only hasten the deterioration of engine oil itself but also damage engine parts by metal particles, leading to engine failure. In addition, the circulation of unfiltered engine oil will cause combustion losses due to the accumulation of contamination in the engine and then weaken engine performance and fuel efficiency. Therefore, the oil filter must be replaced at the right interval.
